EthoVision XT

EthoVision XT is the most widely applied video tracking software that tracks and analyzes the behavior, movement, and activity of any animal.

Main benefits

  • A cost-effective solution for all standard behavioral tests such as the Morris water maze and open field testing.
  • High-throughput and high-content testing.

Filter

EthoVision XT’s data selection tools let you evaluate certain subsets of each trial. Selecting the data, for example, in which animals received a specific treatment allows you to analyze only those data and ignore the rest. Or nest your data on time, zone or a behavioral or physiological state.

Integrated visualization

Visualizing your results is an important part of data analysis and interpretation. Integrated visualization – with tracks superimposed on the video file and dynamic bar graphs for the parameters you’ve selected – gives you a good feel for your data, helpful in especially the beginning steps of analysis.

Analysis

The number of parameters that can be used for analysis is substantial, including trial duration, in zone, distance to zone, distance to zone border, distance moved, velocity, heading, turn angle, etc. With EthoVision XT, you can easily compare the results between treatment groups, for example by using graphs.

The Observer XT

The Observer XT is the professional and user-friendly software package for the collection, analysis, and presentation of observational data.

Main benefits

  • Code and describe behavior in an accurate and quantitative way.
  • Automatically synchronize multiple data streams such as eye tracking, physiology, and emotions.
  • Calculate statistics and assess reliability.
  • More than 20,000 professionals around the world are using The Observer XT.

Filter

Get the data views you want by building elaborate filters based on combinations of independent variables, behaviors, physiological data, and time criteria, such as behaviors being active, or select subjects by independent variable. The independent variables are for labeling and filtering. All data in the project is available for analysis at all times.

Visualization

Easily view your data streams. Visualization creates a direct reference between video, audio, and other data: a great tool for quality improvement. The analysis of data often begins with visualizing the event log, one or more videos, audio, and physiological data streams. All data streams are displayed alongside and play in perfect sync.

Behavioral coding

The Observer XT is designed to reduce the amount of work and simplify behavioral coding. You can record subjects, behaviors, and modifiers by typing shortcut key codes, allowing you to keep your eyes on the scene, while coding at great speed. The time of each code is recorded automatically and errors are prevented by an on-line check.

A new customer story: From data collection to insightful results at Tech3Lab Montreal

At the Tech3Lab at HEC Montréal, Prof. Pierre-Majorique Léger and his co-workers study what users really experience when they interact with technology, like mobile phones or tablets.

Baby FaceReader

The facial expressions of young infants can provide extra insights that help to understand their emotional reactions. By using Baby FaceReader, you can now automatically measure facial expressions in infants ranging in age from 6 to 24 months old.
